Gorilla IT

For the Dutch government I’ve worked closely together with a multi-disciplinary team to create a design system for various sites and platforms to inform and activate citizens in The Netherlands during the pandamic.

	The target audience? Basically everyone; From people who can see well to people with a visual impairment. From highly educated to people who are low literate. From digital experts to people 

	
The biggest challenge was finding a balance between all those different design challenges of app users and GGD employees. They are all important, but sometimes they contradict each other. I have never had to work with so many design constraints at once: impact on processes of the government, speed and accuracy to stop the virus, ease of use, accessibility and privacy.

Besides working on the design system. I also helped creating illustrations that helps the user understand the content.

HEMA Identity design

HEMA’s mission is: a better everyday life in a more beautiful world. At HEMA, therefore, everything is made with love, with a focus on practicality, beauty and design. Products that last longer. With the new strategic direction that HEMA took since the end of 2021, their products deserve to get a stage. HEMA decided to diversify their product range but&#38;nbsp;at the same time have less&#38;nbsp;products.

	The well known red HEMA logo forms the basis of the visual identity. However, this red colour is used sparingly; only the logo and the promos are red, all other elements take advantage of a bold and colourful palette.

SpotRotterdam
On June 1st, after the first corona wave, the Netherlands ‘opened up’ again step for step. More and more restrictions were lifted and it became increasingly busy in public places, also in Rotterdam. The municipality of Rotterdam wanted to do everything they possibly could to ensure that this took place safely.&#38;nbsp;

SpotRotterdam maps out how busy it is in and around the city and helps residents and visitors to go out for their groceries, shop, sit on a terrace or have a picnic in the park in a responsible manner. SpotRotterdam shows the user at a glance how busy or how quiet it is in public places in the city so they can base their choices on this accordingly. Do you want to go to an area where it is busy? SpotRotterdam will then show when it is expected to be quieter at that location or indicate alternative destinations. The information in SpotRotterdam is refreshed every fifteen minutes.

The tool must be clear for each user, with a focus on a simple design enabling the user to use the pressure gauge intuitively. We opted for a simple flow in which the map has a prominent place. The pattern is simple: the city is green and the people are blue. The more busy it is, the bluer the city becomes.

I’ve got three different sentences to work with. 
I used G-star’s minimalistic approuch on photography and combined that with colorfull and bold typography.
