Data visualization: Where I’ve been

In the year 2014 and 2015 I’ve tracked my movement activity. To get a clear view of what my movement looks like I designed a map that shows my activities such as walking, cycling, and other non-physical activities involving means of transportation and their respective location.

Type:           PDP project
Agency:      Clever°Franke
Role:            Data Visualization
Tools:          Mapbox, geoJson, Adobe Illustrator

The data visualization consists of multiple data sets. Each activity is depicted by a color; purple for walking, green for cycling, yellow for non-physical activities and red for the different locations I have been to.

Walking

Non physical transport

Places

The places I have visited are shown using longitude and latitude data  and shown as a heat map.

Amsterdam

Guadalajara (méxico)

Leeuwarden

Seoul (south-korea)

You can explore the visual representation of the data using this link or down here. Let me know if you have any suggestions on how to improve this visualization. You may contact me if you’d like to take a look at the raw data.

As for a small update on this project. I have taken a look at a few months of data taken from 2018. It’s interessting to see the difference in which you move trough the city.
